Because this course programs in a short time, students are given lessons ‘learning by doing’, in the sense of starting lessons at once given the basic theory sculptural. The soft launching of ‘Short Course Sculpture’, initial program we launched how to create sculptures with clay models, ceramics and sandstone (soft stone). For the realist model forms can be taken / copied from the self (self portrait), friends and others. For abstract forms, students are freed to make the sculpture according to his imagination. To complement the course lessons, students are given basic knowledge of materials science and anatomy of human body shapes.

In addition, students get a mold with a ceramic material, fiberglass, cement and teraso/terazzo to take home as gifts. Students can also take the mold (negative results), which was then filled (positive results) in accordance with the material needed..

OUR COURSE
Clay Modelling
Modelling in clay is one of the most ancient and fundamental techniques of sculpture. Clay can be used as a material in its own right, in the form of fired sculptures, or used to make sculptures that are subsequently cast in metals, such as bronze. There are many different types of clay and each is suitable for particular used. Clay can be fine grained and smooth, coarse and heavily grogged, and either white, grey, buff or red-brown in colour according to the amount of iron it contains. White clays contain little or no iron, while red clays have a high iron content. Smooth clays show fine detail when modelled but tend to be soft and floopy, while grogged clays will support themselves and are best suited for making large sculptures. (Karin Hessenberg; Sculpting Basic)
Sculpting the Head with Clay (3 days)
In making sculpting head with clay, the first learning is the character of clay. There are various kinds of clay that can be used as a model of clay sculpture, among others, the clay containing not a lot of iron (Fe) and clay containing a lot of iron content (Fe).

For the first clay could be used forever, as long cleared of dirt during the construction of models, casting and moulding. The second clay that can be burned after the model is finish. This clay is generally used for making ceramics. For making models with clay ceramic material, the technique used should be based on ceramic making techniques.
Within three days the student is expected to finish the sculpture with head shape model. The model could use a friend or can use a mirror for self portrait.
Model of the sculpting head is ideal way to study the making of sculpture because the head or face has the most complex form among other forms of human parts. In addition, the model head or facial as well as other parts of the human being, a form which we are most familiar with. To made sculpting head model takes three days. These also depend on the skilled ability of each individual student.

Sculpting the Figure with Clay (5 days)

For making of human figures with clay materials, it takes skill to make the construction of steel wire as the framework of figurative sculpture. Construction of human figures is different with head’s sculpture model. Sculpting head is simpler than human figure model. Lessons of the construction of human figure model are the most important. Where a construction error and misjudged the gravity point, models clay would collapse before the sculpture is finish. For these, students were given basic knowledge of human anatomy. From this anatomy lessons students can make the motion and the human form naturally and beautiful.
The students will make a sculpture of human figure as high as 30 cm to 45 cm takes approximately five days depending on the concentration, the talent and the intensity of the pupils concerned.
Sculpting Head and Sculpting Figure plus Making Molds and Casting
At the end of the course students usually want to bring home their work. For that course management will be provide instructors to teach the students how to make molds and produce the positives results.
For an illustration to make a print head, the positive result of gypsum material and resin or fiberglass takes three days.
While the human figure to mold with the same ingredients it takes five days. Material to make a mold which is used is cement, gypsum, silicon and resin (fiberglass). Each material has properties, techniques and different prices. Silicon is relatively the most expensive material as compared with resin and plaster. The price of resin is relatively more expensive than plaster and cement.
